    Don’t see a problem here

    • StayFrattyAlum says:

I’m not sure what Freud would say, but when I saw “live sex shows” and “hazing” in the same sentence – I thought this story was going to get real weird.

    • TotalKillerEpsilon says:

      Hahaha right there with ya.

  2. Cupid says:

All of those involved have huge balls to do that. Props.

  3. TexasAlpha1852 says:

I don’t know of a single fraternity at Texas that doesn’t do Dixie show every year during rush. Sucks that they managed to get caught though.

  4. TheGoldenBearFrat says:

alumni distancing themselves from nationals as well. tftc

  5. BROwnOutOfProportion says:

They are being supported by the alumni association that owned the house. Should be interesting to see how this pans out.

    • hobie frat says:

Very interesting. I wouldn’t expect the alumni association to stick with the chapter but its awesome that they did that.

    • N Fratgate Taylor says:

“After reading all of this I am embarrassed for the first time in my life to be a KA – 1978 Gamma Tau. This is a prime example of what is wrong with our society today. Many do not understand what the word “brotherhood” means. Texas Omicron, your immaturity will cost you dearly in the future as your morale beliefs and professionalism have been compromised. You speak of networking? Well don’t think for one minute you will be able to use your KA affiliation, should you decide to claim it on your resume. As I believe you have all shot yourself and other University Texas KA’s before you in the foot if your tenure as a KA or “Texas Omicron” shows up on your resume! As this hiring manager will soon not forget your lack of respect and pride that so many protected in years past! See ya, “ex –KA’s” as you are not good enough to be part of this fine organization!”

    • FratwallJackson says:

^^I wish our alumni were that good.

    • FratwallJackson says:

I don’t see what you did there, N Fratgate.

    • The Great State says:

As a fellow KA I completely give props to the men at Omicron, while they are no longer brothers they did what they felt was right and so did their alumni. Nationals crack down quite a bit and we all respond in different ways.

    • N Fratgate Taylor says:

That was a comment from the article.

    • Broseidon ATX says:

N Fratgate- Whoever wrote that on the article is a tool.

    • FratwallJackson says:

I know what it was, I’m just not sure why you’d have the same opinion as a dad who graduated in 78

    • StayFrattyAlum says:

Having strippers during Rush is a big deal?

    • Go horns go says:

These guys are morons, and I give “omicron” less than a year. They don’t have the money, support, or enthusiasm of pledges (10 have dropped already) to sustain an organization like this. Having said that, I think the UT greek system is going to be ok without “KA Mad dog and Boones”.

    • Frat Dillon says:

N Fratgate Taylor: I can assure you that they don’t give a rats ass what you or any other KA’s think of them.

    • Frat Daddy ISU says:

N Fratgate Don’t get your gray bush in a bunch…go back to yelling at kids for walking in yard and teens for driving too fast up and down your street…but congrats on figuring out how to work the internet…

    • Frat Daddy ISU says:

      your yard*

    • Gen Bedford Forrest says:

      Go Horns Go,

You have to check your facts. Eight kids have dropped, not 10. And what has failed to be mentioned is that they brought in something like 47 guys in the 3 weeks they had to rush. Also, I heard that they are actually saving money by doing this because they don’t have to pay nationals around 70,000 dollars a year. That sounds pretty sustainable to me. And your comment about Mad Dog and Boones was one of the most ignorant things I’ve ever heard. I went last year and it was badass.

    • TXOmicron says:

^^^Yeah he’s right. Mad Dog lives forever.

    • Confraterate says:

I believe those 47 pledges were gotten by bidding kids at the end of the summer that everyone else had already cut. Its pretty obvious to everyone in West Campus.

    • Native Texan says:

The $70,000 that they had to pay to nationals annually is an accurate number, but in return, they covered the chapter’s insurance. It’ll be way more expensive to be self insured (assuming that they’ll get approved anywhere). Also, I only saw their rush captain once or twice. Instead, during that three week period I was rushed harder by other rushees at other fraternities’ rush events. That just added onto how illegitimate the idea of Texas Omicron seemed.

    • alphaxiforme says:

Go Horns Go, as Gen Bedford Forrest said, “Get your facts straight.” If “Omicron” doesn’t have the money to continue, I am curious to what the budget for the other fraternities on campus are, seeing as KA has millions of cushioning, not to mention some very well known alum that I am sure wouldn’t mind being donors. They are old money, and as one of the better known and more popular fraternities on campus, I doubt they will have trouble gaining pledges in future years when they are given more time to rush.

    • legalizehazing says:

I mean insurance is Part of national dues. But I’m sure their alumni and chapter just disassociated without a plan for insurance. That’s probably what happened.

  6. beer and slams says:

    Frat on gentlemen.

  7. Gen Bedford Forrest says:

    This is badass

  8. SNU says:

KAs giving nationals the finger. FaF

  9. The Land of Cotton says:

Having had to deal with the pain in the ass that is nationals… keep up the good work.

  10. Gen Bedford Forrest says:

    Long live the DOUBLE DILDO.

    Fist 2012.

  11. lake fratasu says:

    fuck nationals

  12. WWW1858 says:

Cant wait to see the hitler parody of this.

  13. Success says:

The comments to the article are fantastic.

  14. rainbowsociety says:

yeah nationals suck but going local is really fucking stupid. there goes all your legitimacy.

    • Gen Bedford Forrest says:

Take a lap ass fuck. You obviously don’t know shit.

    • rainbowsociety says:

nope sorry. sure you might still be big shit on campus but good luck networking with that. just because a local frat keeps the ritual doesn’t mean any real brothers will recognize it.

    • Sigma Alpha Brosilon says:

This local group has more history than a good chunk of national chapters. I’d say it brings more notoriety

    • WWW1858 says:

As a fellow Delt and one at UT I would say shut up Rainbow. When they write on their resume they were a KA at UT they don’t have to write they were Texas Omicron, they write KA therefore thats all that is seen and will not effect them what so ever. Legitimacy again Im not a KA but I am good friends with several and what they did is what fraternities and especially ours was founded on. Breaking off from something you thought lost its way or was broken and build up again to become strong and better. That is what a fraternity is.

    • funkyd04 says:

TKE was kicked off campus for over 5+ years at Texas State and they still rushed hard. Nationals disowned them, but they still kept their 2 houses, all of their ritual eqpt, furniture, and they still ran the University. The only fraternities to have higher recruitment were those pussy social clubs that accept anyone with a pulse. I think they were called lambda chi and sigma nu.

    • TXOmicron says:

It’s cool. Rainbow over here just doesn’t really understand how big fraternities work.

    • Southern_KAI_Stars says:

To WWW1858, if KA nationals does not recognize them as a chapter, the new members would not be on an official KA roll. Which, does not allow them to put KA on a resume or for references

    • WWW1858 says:

^Im saying as in an intense of applying for a job they throw the grip to the employer they wouldn’t call the national office and have them search the database. However if they did then yes. In other light they may have just started a whole new fraternity and that is FaF. Breaking off the bad and being a leader is what fraternities are about.

    • Frataholic says:

Did a Texas State TKE just try to comment on this thread and say they at any point in life have run that campus? That is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. Especially when they’re crediting at their competition a two very below average chapters, one of which was not allowed to take pledges at all.

  15. Gov_Lester Maddox says:

Fuck Nationals. They are so hypocritical when it comes to hazing. Hell yeah. Frat On.

  16. The_Light says:

I feel that cutting ties was a bit pre-mature. I’m not a KA and am not familiar with their policies but, personally, a little diplomacy can go a long way but, then again, only the men at Texas Omicron know what really happened which means they, alone, are fit to judge what course to take.

  17. TwoBroThree says:

Fratting in the face of adversity. Well done brothers.

  18. Year Around Frat says:

I understand the whole fuck nationals thing but this is going to be a losing battle when their alumni split and recruitment numbers begin to decline. But nationals should never try to get rid of a top chapter like KA at UT. I’m a sigep and it would suck to see a chapter like Oklahoma or Florida go under. Nationals of all fraternities just need to get off their high horse sometime and just realize that being a full respectable gentleman is all too often not realized until a member is a senior or alumni and looks back on their time and the learning experience. Boys will be boys and I remember being immature as a sophomore and junior. In my 5th year I am a lot more responsible and its the leaders and guys like me who have to hold it all together and be the voice of reason. Good Luck Texas Omicron, you’re going to need it.

    • Fratoholic says:

Sigep at Florida is a joke, so I’m not quite sure how they made the top of your list. Sigep is probably much better at Va Tech or UVA. If the KA brothers at Omicron decided to separate and their alumni support them then I’m sure they had a good reason. KA nationals destroying Old South traditions was a giant hit for the fraternity. I wouldn’t wish the loss of tradition to any fraternity out there, black or white. Making everything PC is ruining this country and our freedoms.

    • Chief Fratdaddy says:

SigEp has its top chapters at Oklahoma, Illinois & Texas, plus a few others in the SEC. Florida excluded.

    • traveller and lee says:

Funny thing is..not too sure if sigepic is top tier at Oklahoma. Definitely decent though. Sae, zax, fiji come to mind first

    • LiveFreeAndFratHard says:

SAE and FIJI are definitely not top tier at Oklahoma

    • Go AmeriKA says:

If SigEp as a whole likes to identify itself as guido and anything but Southern then I supposed they’d consider their Florida chapter as a top one. No other SEC SigEp chapter associates with them because of this. I don’t think any national fraternity would like the identity and reputation that SigEp has at Florida.

  19. jack d says:

It would be interesting to see them stick together and just form a new fraternity.
