I’ve never been able to pinpoint exactly how some people develop into such gullible buffoons. As evidenced by Facebook, we live amongst people who never have the slightest desire to double check their sources. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me, right? These people don’t learn. Most naturally sink to the bottom, but others surprise even themselves and rise into positions that they have no business holding.

Alabama State is looking like a fool this morning after it was announced that they were forced to cancel their homecoming concert after discovering that they never actually booked Lil Wayne, and instead fell victim to a fake promoter that has no association with the artist.

From WAFB:

According to ASU, the university will investigate and pursue litigation against those responsible.

“The university and the Student Government Association acted in good faith,” university officials said in a statement. “The ASU family is extremely disappointed that our students will not be able to enjoy a concert as anticipated for Homecoming 2015.”

When it comes to potential mishaps at these events, our first thoughts gravitate towards equipment malfunctions, rowdy audience members, weather issues, and really anything other than not even booking the artist. That’s flat out embarrassing.

To his credit, Lil Wayne posted a solid message on his Facebook page condemning the asshole who made the university look like a crew of imbeciles.

This is a FRAUD EVENT. Wayne will NOT be performing at ASU tomorrow….

Solid response, Wayne. Take a lesson from this, kids. Always triple check your sources.
