Nice Move

Just over two weeks after Arnold Palmer’s 87th birthday, the legendary golfer passed away at his Pennsylvania home, per multiple reports.

Palmer, who won 62 PGA tournaments — including seven majors and four green jackets — was an icon in the world of sports. The Pennsylvania native dominated the sport between 1958 and 1970.

Outside of golf, Palmer was an avid pilot with 50 years of cockpit experience. The airport in his hometown of Latrobe, Pa. is named in his honor.

In 2001, Palmer began selling his signature lemonade and sweet iced tea drink aptly named the “Arnold Palmer.”

I was blessed to meet Palmer during a pro-am he participated in while I was in high school. Palmer took a few moments out of his day to talk about western Pennsylvania with my father and I. My family hails from the same area.

It is an incredibly sad day in the world of sports.
