A shameless Art Briles, fresh off getting canned from the football program he built from nothing, doubled down on his innocence Tuesday, saying he has never done anything illegal, immoral or unethical during his coaching career.

Briles, as you’ll recall, was terminated in May after a major sexual assault scandal was uncovered at Baylor during an external investigation. Does that not meet the Briles criteria for immoral or unethical behavior? Apparently not.

Here is Briles speaking at a Houston Texans practice today, saying he is ready to coach football again:

Like, buddy, just lay low for a little while, okay?

I have no doubt Briles will coach college football again. He’s too good a coach to ignore, regardless of his history. But he’s got to keep a low profile until then. It would help if he showed a little remorse, too. I’m not sure the “I did nothing wrong” card is going to win this hand, especially when the opponent is playing the Pepper Hamilton report.

Give it a few more months, hit us with the “I’m a changed man” spiel that nobody will actually believe but allowed a shithead Bobby Petrino back into coaching, and then meet with the media. Don’t be doing stupid shit like this.

The only college football staff I can think of that has room today for Briles is East Mississippi Community College. Buddy Stephens and Art Briles would get along just fine.

If Briles actually does get another P5 coaching job, I feel extremely sorry for the media relations director for that program. He is going to go through absolute hell with this dude.
