Nice Move

Bowling Green State University is choosing to honor the military with its new helmets, but it’s doing so with a more personal and meaningful design than you usually see. The helmets honor Bowling Green students that have died while defending our country.

From Football Scoop:

The helmets will be orange with a brown facemask with the side logos incorporating a camo Pattern and the BG logo in stars-and-stripes.

The center stripe is where things get really interesting, as printed in the stripe are the names of 111 Bowling Green State University students who have died in the line of duty. Helmets for the game will feature one of the 12 different stripes with different names on each one.

We’ve seen plenty of impressive military tributes on college football uniforms, most notably the ones that Navy showcased last year against Army. It was a really great move to specifically honor the students, and will hopefully inspire other athletic programs to do the same.

Here’s a look at the helmets.

God Bless America.
