BREAKING: All University of Alabama Pledgeships Ended By School Administration

Email this to a friend

Nice Move

This from the University of Alabama’s student newspaper, The Crimson White:

This comes after an anonymous fraternity pledge detailed his hazing and the alleged hazing of other fraternities for The Crimson White, as well as an anonymous letter to UA school administrators.

More on the story tomorrow.

1.) If it actually existed, you’d think this’d be a good time for the Machine to make a cameo
2.) Doubt this sticks past one week. Just wait until alumni threaten to withhold money
3.) I don’t know what it is about the SEC and buttchugging, but, um, stop it
4.) I want to bang the morningstar out of Kristen Saban

Who is surprised? 46 million Americans are on food stamps. 9 million Americans draw unemployment and aren’t even looking for work. Thousands of baby boomers retire daily even though they are still in good health and can’t afford retirement.

Heck, the NCAA is discussing allowing 5-7 teams to go to a bowl this year! No one has to earn anything anymore! That’s what the Leftists mean by “putting everyone on equal footing.” We tend to discuss the economic effects of socialism, but this poison affects our social thinking as well. They think you should just become a member of a fraternity because you want to, and that’s fair. Bullshit.

Fraternities are getting fucked because many of their actions make the schools look bad not because of liberals. For example, University of Tennessee is going hard on all the fraternities because of the butt chugging while UT is trying to become one of the top25 research schools. It’s just bad publicity.

“Hazing: the practice of rituals and other activities involving harassment, abuse or humiliation used as a way of initiating a person into a group.” Is the office of Greek Life of Bama not harassing, abusing and perhaps most of all, humiliating the other Greek organizations who have not had any problems via forcing them to end a seminal part of their recruitment process? Double. Standard.

What ever happened to earning something? It’s the idea that made America great. Through hard work and sacrifice you can better yourself. I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA

Holy shit this is my favorite post in a while. The liberals have not only taken our economy but our values of competition.

Jesus christ, no pledging? This isn’t just hazing. They literally cannot even educate the new members about the organizations. That’s ubnelieavable.

The same shits happening at Tennessee too. We’ve had several chapters kicked off recently and the interfraternal council is on our asses. This is a sad thing. I am proud to be in an SEC fraternity where we have certain ways of doing things, it makes it worth it and an honor not a right to be greek. I think we’re looking at a day where greek life as we know it is over.

Couldn’t agree more on your last point. If these people don’t like what they have to do they can DROP AT ANY TIME. It’s a private club. While I agree that certain physical and mental abuses go too far, there are still requirements to join ANYTHING. Deal with it or leave. You have that choice ever single day. Apparently free will doesn’t exist for these people.

c’mon. do not compare someone getting their ass kicked by a drunk dude at a fraternity lineup with what goes on preparing men how to defend our freedom

He’s not talking about some dude getting his ass kicked. He’s talking about preparing the pledges to be brothers and making them better men.

      I am drot nunk

^^What I was getting at was that the armed forces “haze” to better the man, prepare him to do good and protect us, and I respect that. SEALs do it, Green Berets do it, any armed force personnel goes through some sort of physical hardships and abusive yelling by boot camp officers. What is it’s main purpose though? To protect us, like you said.
Take that with fraternities. Our main purpose, intended by our fore-fathers, was to better the man, I’m pretty sure that most fraternities are based off of that principal. We have ways that create bonds, better the man, and put him through challenges and tests. My main point is that it seems a little hypocritical for people to be telling us that hazing/pledge-ship/whatever is immoral/wrong/terrible, when our own armed forces do it. I know comparing armed forces with fraternities is a little extreme, but let’s be real, it happens in other organizations that we look up to.

no, i mostly agree with that. this isn’t a hill that i’m going to die on. my main point was that with pledge term, there are levels of hazing which are perfectly fine and should be encouraged, but unlike the military, it’s hard for me to get my head around the *very* extreme examples (e.g. the drunk punch) as being a way to instill principles.
tl;dr- rigorous hazing is fine; beating someone senseless doesn’t seem to best serve our purposes and goals like it might in the armed forces.

Fraternities are getting fucked because many of their actions make the schools look bad not because of liberals. Let’s quit our bitching too. For example, The University of Tennessee is going hard on all the fraternities because of the butt chugging while UT is trying desperately to become one of the top25 research universities. They just don’t want more bad publicity.

I’m not saying your wrong but look at the big picture, look at “participation trophies”. Here’s a harsh true you don’t get participation trophies in life. People are constantly bitching how America is slipping and it goes back to this idea; COMPETITION, if your not the best you work as hard as you fucking can to become the best. THIS IS AMERICA
