You can steal a lot of shit while trashed and likely walk away unscathed — street signs, fraternity/sorority letters, banners, the list is nearly endless. A police cruiser would not fall into that category. In no world (except maybe Syria) would you get away with such an offense. Kody Grayson learned that lesson just two hours into 2016.

Investigators told Channel 9 that an officer was working off-duty at The White House nightclub when he responded to a fight call around 2 a.m. at a neighboring business, Coyote Joe’s, on Wilkinson Boulevard.

When the officer arrived on scene, he got out of his cruiser to speak with some people, and left the car running with the key in the ignition.

That’s when police said Kody Grayson, 22, jumped into the unlocked cruiser and sped off.

A short time later, the vehicle was found crashed in the woods in the 3600 block of Scott Futrell Drive. Grayson had run away from the crash scene before officers arrived.

The obvious takeaway here is this: he was born to be a failure. Kody spelled with a K was doomed from birth. His parents hopes and dreams for their son must’ve been at depressingly low levels when they shat out that name on his birth certificate, forever solidifying his path in life as one that results in at least a few jail stints.

Now, looking at the cruiser they pulled out of the woods, Kody was hauling ass before eventually leaving his ticket to prison pinned between a few trees.

Somehow Kody managed to flee to a location 14 miles away before cops eventually caught up to him and slap about half a dozen charges on him. He’s now looking at facing a judge for larceny of motor vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger, resisting a public officer and hit and run.

Two hours into the new year and already facing a plethora of charges. That’s a celebration he’ll never top.
