Drunk Man Attempts 74-Mile NYE Joy Ride with Stolen Golf Cart and Champagneby 11 months ago
The problem with stealing a golf cart is the slow getaway. If you’re going to heist an E-Z-GO and head for the safety of home at 18 mph, home had better be within a couple hundred yards. Tops. You can’t be taking that thing out on the open road, weaving in and out of traffic and using hand signals. That type of road trip ends in certain capture. You damn sure can’t drive that thing to your home that’s 74 miles away, and this painfully obvious lapse in criminal judgement has John Vishion, 46, sitting behind bars.
I will admit, however, that lifting the champagne was a worthwhile risk. If there was light at the end of this 74-mile tunnel, you can bet your ass Johnny was celebrating with champagne showers, all five bottles worth.
[Vishion] attempted to drive from Angels Camp to Citrus Heights, which is in the Sacramento area, the report said. He reportedly drove 13 miles before he was stopped.
Vishon left the Trendwest Wyndham Resort in Angels Camp after an argument, the report said. Twenty minutes before midnight, Vishon allegedly spotted the golf cart in a garage, unplugged it, swiped five bottles of champagne and drove off, the report said.
He was arrested after reportedly getting lost during the drive.
13 miles is a miracle.
Vishon was charged with “burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, grand theft and driving under the influence,” according to the report.
