I was told that ECU was for the people who couldn’t get into UNC, UNC-C, or UNC-W, and that the only thing that was guaranteed was an STD and a prescription drug addiction.

No. UNC-C for the most part is a commuter school outside of a small greek life most of their students go home on the weekends, UNC-W alot of people choose to go there form a science of marine biology. Many people choose to go to ECU for medicine, nursing, teaching, construction mgmt, ect. I would know I turned down UNC-C, UNC- W, and App State to go to ECU. I know alot of people at ECU Who ever told you that has no idea what the fuck their talking about.

    Appalachian State>ECU

I hope this is a joke… do you realize how many pot smoking gdi fucks you have at your school?

I grew up across the street from ECU’s campus, I live on 5th street so i get to see it all…. they suck the school (other than the health related departments) is awful. I chose to go somewhere else for college and I’m very proud to say I chose Appalachian State. I agree with WoodfordReserve: Appalachian State > ECU

see all of what….. you dont even go there just because you live in greenville doesnt mean you know anything about programs at ECU. You think the people who live in the bad part of town know or give a fuck about the university fuck no. So what makes your opinion matter if you dont even go here. On top of the fact that your argument still doesnt excuse for the large amount of worthless hippe trash and the massive amounts of gdi’s crawling all over your campus. If i wanna go up to the mountains and freeze my ass off and smoke shit tons of weed. Ill head right up to App state.

I don’t live in the bad part of Greenville I live across the street from campus, so yes I do see a lot of ECU. I also have good friends that go to school there so I’m pretty sure I can speak about the programs at ECU. While App may have a bunch of hippies at least our greek system isn’t full of guido crap and students who just tear up the entire city while they are here. Thanks to your fellow students my parents have had to have our fence not only repainted multiple times but also replaced because they don’t know how to hold their alcohol and not be falling down drunk every night. Oh yeah and the multiple break-ins to our house thank the students for me on that one because those are just sooo much fun. And my opinion matters because unlike you I have been a witness to all of this year after year after year, not just a few semesters. So yes the students may be hippies at App, but at least they are respectful for the most part and are willing to help anyone out and mind their own property. The school is not terrible but the are still pretty awful… I know that from personal experience from summer classes taken there… It was a waste of money.

ECU has an acceptance rate in the 70′s, App State has one in the 60′s so the difference isn’t that huge. 3.9 v. 3.5 weighted GPA is not a big difference either. The Valedictorian and Saludetorian of my high school are both attending ECU (with large scholarships). Both were accepted to UNC, Wake Forest and Duke. 5th street is no where near the best area in Greenville to live, sorry to burst your bubble but almost every area is nicer than the 5th street area, especially if you don’t want to be near partying. This is an ECU topic anyway, so if you are just going to bash ECU there is no reason for you to even write here. ECU>App State any day.

Amen about living on 5th! I lived in Brook Valley and some friends who went to school with me who lived on 5th because her mom was a professor had some crazy noise/property damage done to their house.

Greek life is on the up-swing at ecu. For the past couple of years less geeds are coming in and more fratty people.

You’re a moron, it is not on the upswing. Hazing hasnt been the same the past two years and even the fraternities without houses are getting in trouble.

I thought this was a discussion about Greek life and not a “My school is better than your school, my dick is bigger than you dick” conversation.

I go to school in North Carolina, grew up about an hour from App and a few hours from ECU, and plenty of my high school buddies go to both schools. In terms of legitimacy and reputation, ECU can’t hold a candle to App. App also isn’t as hippy friendly as everyone makes it out to be (Boone is often confused with Asheville..). I go to NC State, so I just thought I’d share a somewhat unbiased opinion.
