ESPN Gets Trolled On Live TV, Makes Colossal Reporting Error

Back when I was working at FOX, I once tweeted out “Kliff Kingsbury is Tech’s leading candidate to be their next head coach” after Tubberville up and left. I had no real insiders telling me this. I was just going off a hunch. Well, that was retweeted into the next century by Tech and A&M fans, and Kliff became the coach 4 days later. Sometimes you just try to start internet rumors, like Uncle Chaps was doing with this tweet:

When he tweeted that, his avatar was of Jay Glazer and used Glazer’s name for the Twitter display name. Well, ESPN caught wind of the tweet thinking that Glazer was actually breaking some news here and decided to air that breaking news on the afternoon segment of NFL Live.

Got ’em, Chaps. They were eating that shit up left and right…until someone got in their ear to tell them the truth and Schefter corrected it.

Schefty is piiiiiiiisssssseeeeed. Maybe that’s why it’s always a good idea to have more than one source (from Twitter, no less) before you break a story.
