One thing I really hate about sports media is that they ask the dumbest questions. Watching Emily Jones ask Colby Lewis how he felt giving up four home runs and expecting him to say anything other than “it fucking sucks” is cringe worthy. The reporters know the answers, the players don’t want to give the real answer, and the players don’t want to be bothered with stupid questions.
Illinois Senior defensive back Eric Finney decided that he was going to troll the local newspaper when asked stupid questions about him.
These are some of the highlights from his survey in The News Gazette:
What is your favorite part about Camp Rantoul?
I’ve never been, but rumor has it that we go there for football practice at the UI. I would love to be briefed on the experience before I go through it.
I love it, just casually acting like he’s never been to practice before. At this point in the interview, the reporter had to be fuming on the inside. He’s thinking “why won’t this motherfucker just give me one honest answer, for the love of God?”
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
Preferably, just the bucket.
It would have been a lot cooler if he had said “bucket hat.” I’m a firm supporter in a good bucket hat.
Other than your teammates, who is your Heisman favorite?
Have you seen Yasiel Puig? Go, Dodgers, Go!
Troll level is 100. Yasiel Puig? Dude is hitting like .170 since the start of July. This is what the reporter gets for asking all these stupid questions. Why the heck should Finney care about the Heisman race? He’s trying to get ready for the season.
Good on you, Eric..
