As we mourn the loss of Muhammad Ali, the Greatest Of All Time, we remember all the phenomenal moments that littered his long, eventful life.

Ali had an amazing journey, from taking the belt from Sonny Liston and getting a new name from the leader of the Nation of Islam, to his refusal to be drafted for the Vietnam War. With his boastful personality and strong principles, He became an iconic ambassador of his sport.

But one of the coolest Cassius stories involves when the GOAT passed the baton to Iron Mike Tyson.

As a young fighter, Ali was Tyson’s hero. Tyson’s trainer and father figure, the legendary Cus D’Amato, was good friends with Muhammad. Young Mike would eavesdrop on their phone conversations.

One day, after Ali suffered from a disappointing loss to Larry Holmes, Cus let Mike talk to Ali on the phone. A 14-year-old Mike sobbed on the phone and vowed to get revenge on Holmes for Ali. Saying “when I get big I’m gonna get him for you”.

And he did.

Six years later, Mike fought Larry Holmes and kicked his ass. Ali was at the fight. And in a movie-like moment before the fight, Ali whispered to Mike “get him for me,” and Mike knocked Larry out in the 4th round.

Here’s a video of Mike summing up the story on Conan.

A ridiculously badass tale about a legend passing on the crown to another. This shit sounds like a movie.

R.I.P. Muhammad Ali.
