A UMass basketball player says his mom, an American hero, shut off his cell phone data usage until he started playing better basketball.
Trey Davis, the team’s point guard and senior leader, dropped 40 points in a recent game for the Minutemen. What inspired the incredible performance? Well, apparently fed up with her son’s so-so performances on the court, Davis’ mom shut off his cell phone data until he picked it up.
Davis said he’d been working on wifi-only since Sunday.
That might not sound like a big deal, but for a college kid it can be crushing. No phone, no life. And Davis had his own mother, who pulled the plug on his data plan from afar after her son had a rough game last time out in the Minutemen’s loss at Florida Gulf Coast, to thank for it all.
“Man, my mom turned my phone off after the game we just lost,” Davis, who made 18 straight free throws in Wednesday night’s win, said. “She was mad. Talking about my free throws and all this other stuff.
“She said ‘Why are you missing free throws and all these jump shots?’ So she just turned my phone off and she told me ‘Get it together.'”

That’s a great mom right there. You think you are immune to punishment because you are a senior in college and a basketball star? Hell no. If you don’t stop missing free throws and losing games to teams like Florida Gulf Coast, Momma is going to pull the fucking plug.
Good on her. The world needs more parents like this. Not a bunch of cocksuckers who named their kids “Raider” or “Korbynn” and force-feed them gluten free candy bars and don’t let them play organized sports that are “gender exclusive.”
Tough love is the best love. I’m a Trey Davis fan now..
