Nice Move

Pi Kappa Phis from all over the nation gathered in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles this week to begin the latest leg of their Push America philanthropy, an event called Journey of Hope. The 35 teams of Pi Kapp brothers will ride bikes 4,000 miles across the American countryside and end up in the nation’s capital, all in the name of raising money for people with disabilities.

It’s like the Lance Armstrong Livestrong movement, you know, except without the façade of courage and all the millions of shattered dreams.

In addition to Seattle, there are teams of fraternity brothers leaving from San Francisco and Los Angeles. They are all scheduled to arrive in Washington, D.C. on August 10.

Initiated in 1987, the first 21 team members who completed a Journey of Hope ride raised $20,000.

This year’s Journey of Hope is expected to raise more than $500,000 for people with disabilities.

100 men. 4,000 miles. One badass mission.
