Driving drunk should be something that never crosses your mind. You’re putting yourself and the lives of others in danger. Here at TFM, we were saddened to hear the news that a fellow member of the Greek community passed away on Tuesday after being struck by a drunk driver. Early Sunday morning, 22-year-old Chi Lam, a member of Delta Sigma Phi at San Jose State, was crossing the street in front of his chapter’s house when a drunk driver struck him. The driver fled the scene after crashing into a few other cars. The police later apprehended him at his apartment.

Lam’s family is struggling to pay for his medical bills and the cost of his funeral. A current member of SJSU Delta Sig reached out to us so we could let you know that the fraternity has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help out his family. I encourage you to make any sort of donation you can. Every little bit helps. I also encourage you to help curb members from driving under the influence.

Take this as a reminder to leave your keys in your pocket if you’re drunk. Grab a taxi, an Uber, or call a sober friend. Just do not under any circumstances get behind the wheel. Our prayers go out to the Lam family, Delta Sigma Phi, and anyone else who has been affected by similar tragedies.
