Nice Move

Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Zach Johnson, Justin Thomas, Jason Dufner, and Jimmy Walker are all having a weekend slumber party together over in Troon, Scotland for the British Open.

From The PGA Tour:

“We do quite a few houses during the year,” Fowler said, “so it’s nice to have a sense of normalcy in a way. We wake up, have food, not stuck in a hotel. … It’s nice to have stuff to do when you get off the golf course.”

For obvious reasons, Fowler wouldn’t reveal the exact location of the house, but he did say there was no pecking order on how the rooms were divided. “I don’t think there’s too many (rooms) better than the other,” he said. “It’s a pretty level playing field.”

Fowler said, the guys do talk a little golf. But generally the house offers a respite from the tension of playing in a major. Fowler describes it as a “guys week.” Thomas said he’s glad to be in the “little frat house.”

And Spieth offered a two-word description: “Just fun.”

What about Smylie Kaufman? How did he not get the invite over old timers Jimmy Walker or Zach Johnson? Trouble in paradise for the boys of Baker’s Bay? Anytime you get subbed out for a guy who rocks Oakley shades and looks like a frail thumb, you have to reevaluate your role in the squad.

Obviously no one’s getting wild in this house — especially during a major — but this struck up debate amongst the office. What would be the real ultimate “frat house” on tour that you’d actually want to hang out with? I’m going with Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and Brooks Koepka for an optimal “guys being dudes” environment. Add Anthony Kim into the mix for his insurance money and reckless spending habits, Kiradech Aphibarnrat for the sheer unintentional comedy value in seeing his rotund self stumbling around speaking broken English, and I’ll throw in Tiger for a few good stories and his Hooters waitress connections. Yup, that’s the fucking house right there.
