Ravens WR And Hall Of Fame Trash Talker Steve Smith Pulled One Final Power Move In His NFL Retirement Letter

Steve Smith

Steve Smith will always be remembered for being one of the most wonderfully fiery football players of all time, as well as one of the great trash talkers in NFL history. (Pretty solid wide receiver too.) Take, for example, this on field exchange Smith had with then St. Louis Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

Shoves Jenkins. Dodges Jenkins’ shove back. Then gets in his face. Look at Smith’s face. I’m genuinely jealous of Panthers and Ravens fans for getting to root for a guy that passionate and ridiculous. Also, on the very next play Smith scored a touchdown and, after the game, had this glorious diatribe about Jenkins, re: Jenkins’ own trash talk and the touchdown Smith scored.

Then, a few weeks later, Smith added this knife twist about Jenkins:

“It sounds like he needs to wear some condoms,” Smith said of Jenkins, who had four kids with three different women as of 2012. “That’s what it sounds like he needs to wear.”

So yeah, Steve Smith once killed Janoris Jenkins.

And there’s so much more. But the latest, and last? Smith’s letter to Roger Goodell informing the NFL’s fearless ginger that he’s retiring.

You will be missed, you tiny, fiery, lunatic baller. The NFL just got even more boring. Unless a TV network hires you, which needs to happen. Just show this as your audition tape.

I’d watch nine hours of that every Sunday for the next thirty years.
