Taco Bell has a dog in the fast food chicken fight. The Mexican chain restaurant is set to begin testing their all-new Crispy Chicken Chips.

On Monday, a note from Nomura analyst Mark Kalinowski highlighted Taco Bell’s upcoming test of Crispy Chicken Chips.
“Taco Bell’s Crispy Chicken Chips look like wedge-shaped chicken tenders,” wrote Kalinowski. “Between this test item and the Naked Chicken Chalupa, which used fried chicken as a ‘taco shell,’ Taco Bell clearly wants to figure out innovative ways to use chicken to its advantage.”
I don’t know, man. Chik-fil-A does their chicken so damn well — the secret is to soak everything in peanut oil — that Taco Bell is straight up foolish to challenge them. TB would have to catch Chik-fil-A on a Sunday. CFA’s sammiches have been blessed by God. No way TB’s chicken chips come even close. I am intrigued by the concept and I will definitely give ’em a shot, but chip-style just sounds like a bad way to serve chicken. The meat would have to be spread super thin and it would be all breading.
The Naked Chicken Chalupa — set to release nationwide next year — will also be traveling through my angry, aching bowels. That shit’s just too absurd not to order:
Gotta respect Taco Bell’s ambition. They’ve always been pushing the envelope when it comes to creative fast food, and after Burger King somehow pulled off those delicious Mac ‘N’ Cheetos abominations earlier this year, the bar on wacky, colon-cancerous fast food has been raised even higher (or lower, depending on how you look at things). What a time.
