Wars in general create serious mentally debilitating problems for those who fight them. Vietnam, when compared with most other 20th century conflicts that America has had, did not create a substantially greater proportion of mental disorders. What was called “shell-shock” in WWI and became “battle fatigue” in WWII and was called “PTSD” in Vietnam all represent the same reality that wars, for many people who fight them, are seriously mentally destabilizing.

The liberal media/film production companies/publishing houses, in the wake of the fall of Saigon in 1975, attempted and in many ways succeeded in convincing the American public that their was something extra horrible about the war in Vietnam, and that it created a different breed of crazy, mentally unstable veteran. This is simply not true, but it was a good way for liberals to turn us into the nation of war-fearing pussies that we are now.

By perpetuating the idea that the Vietnam War produced a distinct and greater than normal level of mental instability in its veterans, you sir are complicit with the liberal movement in this country.

Therefore, you suck, and fuck you.

      War Cam Eagle

You just quoted George Carlin. Most of that is word for word from one of his stand ups. Thought you’d throw it in there to sound smart? Well now you look like a jackass. Shit in your hands and clap.

^ I have no intention of that.

Is this the stand-up section you’re referring to? Doesn’t much resemble what I said, though if it is a different clip by all means post it.

I’ve listened to a few of Carlin’s stand up bits before, but never heard him talk about war (with the above exception) and its role in American history.

From what I can discern though, he is way towards the left side of the political spectrum, and by citing him I can only conclude that you, good sir, share his political ideology.

Such beliefs, as you may not have surmised, are anathema on this website, and I kindly request that you go fuck your ass with a cactus.

      Serious About Boats

This is the only good thing that people should say about that war. My dad was almost drafted. I wish that I could’ve been drafted because I don’t care if I don’t make it but my dad is the best man that I have ever met.
