As a college athlete, “Invincible” Vince Young was known for being an unstoppable force.
Last night, that unstoppable force ran into an impenetrable object: the American criminal justice system.
Young was stopped at a traffic light on the Interstate 35 service road at Sixth Street when he first garnered the attention of the arresting officer. The officer wrote in an arrest affidavit that after the light turned green, Young did not begin to drive for about 10 seconds.
The officer followed as Young drove between 25 to 30 mph on the service road before entering the main northbound lanes at 15th Street, police said.
The officer said he saw Young’s pickup drift within its lane while traveling between 42 and 60 mph. On the upper deck of the highway, Young accelerated to 68 mph, where the officer saw the pickup’s tires drift to the solid yellow line in the left lane.
Young eventually exited the highway near Airport Boulevard and was arrested at 11:16 p.m.

This is completely unconfirmed, but rumor has it that Young had bottle service at popular Austin pool hangout Rio. A witness claims to have seen him fraternizing with a bunch of middle-aged dudes who, because this is Texas, were no doubt asking him questions like, “So how’d it feel crossing that goal line?” and “C’mon, tell me — what was Mack REALLY like???” all night. That’s probably why he called it an early night and bounced around 11 p.m.
You’ve got to feel bad for Vince at this point. I’d go buy a nice, juicy filet from Austin’s own Vince Young Steakhouse to help him out, but I’m pretty sure he sold off his stake (this is no time for steak puns, I apologize) a while back and thus wouldn’t receive a share of the profits.
I’m still not entirely convinced this isn’t just a sneaky way for Vince to get a criminal record so that he ends up on Jerry Jones’ radar. Could be huge for our boy..
