JJ Watt Could Come Back To The NFL (As A Broadcaster)

JJ Watt has been enjoying his retirement since January and now only six months in, it looks like that may be coming to an end.

While Watt is in no way considering a return to playing in the NFL, it seems he has plenty of opportunities to find his place in the league as a broadcaster. According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Watt has three offers from television studios to join as a broadcast analyst for this upcoming season. Though CBS is the favorite to sign Watt, NBC and NFL Network are also in talks with future hall of famer.

No specific figures have been made public yet, but it is reported that CBS plans to add JJ in addition to other broadcast members, while NBC would like him to fill a role within their Big Ten TV network. NFL Network presumably would want Watt to join as a main analyst for one of their programs.

Back when Watt first retired back in January, a fan asked his thoughts on broadcasting to which JJ explained he would potentially be open to it.

While JJ expressed some interest in broadcasting, he definitely was skeptical about it towards the beginning of his career. Even if he is open to it, he may want to hold off a season or two and enjoy retirement.

I think most people would like to see JJ in the booth. He’s charismatic, hard working, and seems like a smart guy who can read the game. I’d way rather see JJ in there than human Mr. Potato Head Booger McFarland.
