John Cena Clears Up The Rumors About His WWE Future

If you can’t see John Cena at WrestleMania this year, it is probably because he will not be there. HOWEVER… that does not mean Cena is done with WWE.

Not by a longshot, apparently.

He went on with Ellen to discuss how his time will be spend this year, and it was good news for wrestling fans.

“WrestleMania is usually in the cusp of late March, early April. I don’t know if I’m going to make it this year,” Cena said. “That’s a good conundrum to have because there are a lot of good opportunities coming up, which I would love to take. If all those things line up, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make WrestleMania. I will tell everybody watching, I’m not done with WWE by a long shot. That’s my home, I love it. I was able to go back during the summer for a few months and entertain audiences when they welcomed audiences back to arenas and I’ve far from had my last performance.”

It has been almost a year since the WWE used Cena — and his popularity — to try and prop up a failed build for Roman Reigns — something they have been trying to do for what seems like forever — … and Cena has not been seen in front of WWE cameras since that match.

It certainly does not mean that he is leaving it all behind.

“I think I will try to do the best I can until I feel I’m offending the consumer,” Cena said on Good Morning America. “There’s nothing like the energy of being in that ring with the audience around. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to do a whole lot of stuff. That energy is indescribable. That place is my home. I wouldn’t be who I am without it.”

Currently Cena is on a publicity blitz for Peacemaker.

Peacemaker is a sequel that picks up directly from the events of The Suicide Squad, with Cena’s anti-hero/supervillain role continuing to work for the government as an assassin — after surviving being shot at by Deadshot (Idris Elba) and having a building fall on him — so, some classic comicbook stuff…

Anyways…

Cena’s character is so obsessed with “peace” that his job is essentially him killing whoever the government wants, in the name of peace. Though, this new version of Peacemaker is struggling with his moral compass after murdering Rick Flag (Joel Kinnamen) in The Suicide Squad.

There are also plenty of other actors joining Cena on Peacemaker. Most all of them will be familiar to you if you saw The Suicide Squad with Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt) and Steve Agee (John Economos). Joining them will be Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Robert Patrick (Auggie Smith), Chris Conrad (Vigilante), Christopher Heyerdahl (Captain Locke), Chukwudi Iwuji (Clemson Murn), Lochlyn Munro (Larry Fitzgibbon), and Annie Chang (Sophie Song).

So… now you know a little bit more about the HBO Max show that is clogging your timeline.
