It is early-November and so the NBA is still pretty meaningless to me. I have NFL, NCAAF, Madden franchises, another 802,456 things that I won’t list that are more important than the NBA… in early-November… BUT, this sequence and then squabble has me hopeful.
So, as it goes, Denver was beating the brains out of Miami, when Markieff Morris decided that he was going to go throw a shoulder into reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. It was a dirty play.
Well, in response, Jokic took a running start at Morris and gave him a nice hard shove in the back. It was also a dirty play.
Morris then thought it was a soccer match and laid on the ground longer than some women take to give birth… seriously, they brought out a stretcher before he got up.
To the tape:
Well it gets more fun from there.
“Waited till bro turned his back smh. NOTED,” tweeted Morris’ twin brother, Marcus, a forward with the Clippers.
AND THEN….
Jokic’s brothers, who appear capable of inflicting some damage if need be, quickly responded, tweeting: “You should leave this the way it is instead of publicly threatening our brother! Your brother made a dirty play first. If you want to make a step further be sure we will be waiting for you!! Jokic Brothers.”
Markieef is yet to directly respond to the Brothers Jokic — nor should he because they look they would fvck some shit up — though he did try to pacify the situation, tweeting: “I love to see the hate! No doubt I took a hard foul which I always do but I’ve never hit a man with his back turned! Luckily we built different over here. I can take my licks and keep pushing. Joker 1 smooth 0 lol.”
Everyone was saying all the right things afterwards before going to the Twitter streets.
“I feel bad,” Jokic said after the game. “It was a stupid play. I’m not supposed to react that way.
“I thought it was going to be a take foul, (but) I think it was a dirty play. And I just needed to protect myself. I felt bad, I am not supposed to react that way, but I need to protect myself.”
Heat coach Eric Spolstra took up for his player, as he would.
“That was a very dangerous and dirty play,” Spoelstra said after the game. “Keef took a foul, and it was one of those fastbreak-take fouls, and he did it with his shoulder. You might deem that maybe as a little bit more than just slapping somebody, but after watching it on film, it was a take foul. That’s how I saw it. And the play after, that’s just absolutely uncalled for.”
The next game between the Heat and Nuggets is November 29th in Miami, I doubt anything happens but you never know what can happen when push comes to shove (though if you need a stretcher from a push, you don’t want anything to do with the Jokic Bros.)
