The situation is tense in Chestertown, M.D. today as Washington College officials have elected to close school for the third consecutive day as police search for a missing SGA member who is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Jacob Marberger’s case originated as a missing person incident but quickly escalated when his parents said he returned home and retrieved a gun case that they believe contains a rifle. While this wouldn’t be much to worry about in most situations, officials have announced that he is being charged with previously bringing a gun to campus early last month before disappearing and hiding it at an off-campus apartment.

A plethora of other issues made police believe that he may be troubled, although no threats have been directly reported to the school.

From Baltimore Sun:

Marberger was then asked to leave campus and required to undergo a psychiatric evaluation — which he passed — before returning to campus a week ago, Roderick said.

Bair said Marberger was still facing disciplinary action by the college’s Honor Board, which could have included suspension or expulsion. Officials said he also was kicked out of his fraternity and resigned Sunday from his position with the student government.

Officials said he has had some problems with other students — they described an incident in which a trash can filled with water was placed against his dorm room’s door so it would empty into his room when he opened the door.

The last sign of Marberger came Monday when police tracked a cell phone signal to a Cabela’s in Hamburg, P.A. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
