It’s extremely rare that a Monday afternoon press conference about a college football game that happened days prior provides any content. These pressers usually involve the head coach babbling over his third chin about some meaningless inspirational bullshit and the team captain chiming in with how the team is working together as one. Riveting stuff.
Thankfully, Washington State wide receiver Gabe Marks is here to break up the monotony by saying what he is actually thinking about UCLA. Marks, a senior, called out UCLA at Monday’s presser after several Bruins players warmed up on Wazzu’s side of the field on Saturday.
That’s the nicest possible way to call people douchebags. You’re a senior, Marks. Let it rip. Ride the lightning!
I fully see where he’s coming from, too. From someone on the outside looking in, UCLA is full of glitz and glamor. They have beach parties. Every girl that goes there is a 12/10. Snoop Dogg’s son goes (went?) there. As for Wazzu? Not so much.
The UCLA-Wazzu warmup beef goes back to last year. Several UCLA players, playing on their home turf, supposedly kept throwing passing routes on what was supposed to be Wazzu’s half of the field. It was a minor annoyance at the time, especially after no. 18 UCLA lost to Wazzu 31-28. Now, it seems to have blossomed into a beautifully stupid sports beef.
On Saturday, things stayed the same. UCLA warmed up on Wazzu’s side of the field and then Wazzu beat them again, 27-21. SPORTS!
Third time is the charm?
