I’m still a little hurt that Nike decided to get out of the golf club market, but this certainly eases the pain. On Monday, women’s golf star Michelle Wie and women’s tennis star Genie Bouchard criss-crossed universes to team up for a Nike apparel-themed photoshoot of sorts. The results? Fire. Like, total fire. Like, Smokey the Bear warned us about this sort of fire.
Thank you, Nike, for bringing together this duo that we never knew we needed.
This might be the best duo in all of sports since Shaq/Kobe, Gretzky/Messier, or any NFL football player/concussions. There’s just something about country club attire that makes guys go, “Okay, yeah, I feel you.”
Wie has been in the media spotlight for quite a while now; she was quite the child golf prodigy according to trusty Wikipedia. Bouchard, however, has just recently bust onto the scene. Her Super Bowl bet with a Patriots fan on Twitter — who put a date with Genie on the line should the Pats find a way to win the game — found her dominating headlines the very next day when the Pats found a way to win the game. Respect for honoring the date (the details of which you can check out here).
That being said, I’m guessing none of you are actually reading what I’m writing here and are just scrolling past for more Wie-Bouchard content. Fair, fair.
Really swinging for the fences, Nike. Well done. Now just keep Tiger in his cage for a few months and you should be all good..
