Stay Classy, Joe Biden

I’m a huge fan of The Office. Great show. Got a Schrute Farms t-shirt and everything. While the program has definitely started to develop rigor mortis ever since Steve Carell left for greener pastures, it still remains a benchmark of my Thursday nights.

My favorite quote?

“The most inspiring thing ever said to me? ‘Don’t be an idiot.’ Changed my life. Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, ‘Would an idiot do that?’ And if they would, I do not do that thing.” -Dwight K. Schrute

After hearing about what transpired Tuesday in Virginia, it sure looks like the Vice President really needs to start catching up on the shenanigans going on in Scranton.

From Yahoo! News:

On Tuesday, speaking at a rally in Danville, Va., Vice President Joe Biden told a group of supporters that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney would “put you all back in chains” if elected.

The vice president was arguing that Republicans plan to “unchain Wall Street” with deregulation.

“He said in the first hundred days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules, unchain Wall Street,” Biden said during a speech at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. “They’re going to put you all back in chains.”

And ohbytheway, the town the Veep spoke in? Yeah, its population is 48% African-American, a demographic NBC News says was well-represented in the audience of 800 supporters.

This wasn’t just a gaffe. President Bush saying, “I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully” is a gaffe. Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul saying “To that point, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care” is a gaffe.

For the second most powerful man in the free world to blatantly race-bait an audience full of African-Americans by evoking the horrible images of slavery isn’t merely a gaffe. It’s just fucking moronic.

It’s official.

Joe Biden is an idiot.
