At this point, even Yankees fans can admit that they are a little annoying. We are talking about a group of people who threw a Malcolm in The Middle-style temper tantrum over signing Anthony Rizzo instead of Matt Olson or Freddie Freeman. A fanbase that wanted Brian Cashman’s head because Isiah Kiner-Kalefa doesn’t have the best bat in the big leagues- a bit of an overreaction? Uhhh….yeah. But that’s who Yankees fans are: they expect excellence, and they react to the news with the theatrics of an Atlanta Baptist Church. The winner of the AL East is playing in this series. While I don’t think the Red Sox will continue to look worse than a botched Kardashian plastic surgery, and the Rays are still in the mix, but make no mistake, the division will come down to the Yankees or Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays are treading water right now. Bo Bichette, Matt Chapman, and Jose Berrios are playing mehhh; however, I’ve been really impressed with guys that didn’t get much hype this offseason, like Santiago Espinal and CHONKY boy Alejandro Kirk. I think the bats will start to get hot for Toronto’s left side of their infield soon, just not this series. The Yankees look like the team to beat in the AL right now. Aaron Judge finally looks like the leader he’s been expected to be the last five years, Anthony Rizzo is having his best season since 2016, and a starting rotation that had a lot of question marks around it is playing FANTASTIC. I expect the Bronx Bombers to take both of these games, and if you’re a fan, you should too. Take the Yanks.
