There’s No Better Time To Play The Circle Game Than When Your Dad’s Getting Sworn In As New Jersey Governor

Throughout the course of my mediocre writing career at TFM, I’ve written a couple stories about New Jersey, covering a bill that proposed the outlawing of drunk droning in the state (which is now officially set in stone, by the way) as well as its residents’ recent discovery of/infatuation with poop toys.

I’ve never lived in New Jersey nor have I technically even been there. But there’s something about the whole aesthetic of the Garden State that, at certain times, disgusts me, and, at others, completely fascinates me. This video of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s son getting all of us with the below-the-belt OK sign right in the middle of his dad’s swearing-in ceremony, without a doubt, falls under the “completely fascinates me” category.

Got ’em! Nothing says community outreach like engaging the people in a friendly circle game. What really makes this whole scene truly majestic, though, is the immediate juxtaposition of Junior’s shenanigans with Murphy dishing out a handshake-arm grab combo like he and the judge were lifelong buddies meeting up at a Jersey deli. The only way this could be more Jersey is if Tony Soprano’s ghost showed up and started going on about gabagool.

I’m sure there are plenty of New Jersey enthusiasts, such as myself, that were worried about how Jersey would turn out in the post-Christie era. Judging from this video, I’m thinking it’ll all be A-OK.
