After getting snubbed from the College Football Playoff despite going 12-0, the UCF Knights pulled off the most diabolical troll move of the season by declaring themselves National Champions following their legitimate Peach Bowl victory. But they didn’t simply just shoot off a congratulatory tweet and leave it at that. Nope, they went all out by hanging a title banner, dishing out championship bonuses to coaches, and even throwing a goddamn parade.
And if you were hoping that all of that pomp and circumstance would mark the end of Central Florida’s manufactured victory tour, the NFL has some harsh news for you.
When the NFL’s brightest stars take the field at the 2018 Pro Bowl in Orlando, they will be joined by UCF’s football team. In the wake of its national championship, undefeated season, the UCF Knights will be honored by the NFL following the first quarter of the game.
As someone who enjoys extending a joke way past its expiration date, I’m more obsessed with this UCF thing than I am with hitting the dab over my collection of 69 JUULs.
I firmly believe the Knights shouldn’t put a stop to the shenanigans until they get a White House visit out of it. Donnie would likely be torn on this one considering he’s a yuge opponent of fake news yet also loves himself a troll job. Honestly, this may need to get settled in Congress..
