Usain Bolt: Honorary American for a Day

I love me some cocky athlete, and Usain Bolt is certainly that. He’s well known for his pre and post-race antics and shenanigans, but when you own the title of “fastest man on earth,” actually he’s the fastest man to ever live, it’s to be expected. And when someone with Bolt’s status and personality is able to turn it off to show respect for an athlete of another country, I become a big fan.

American track athlete Sanya Richards-Ross was on the center podium about to take in her big moment after winning gold in the 400 meter race, and Bolt was mid-interview. Upon hearing the beginning of our National Anthem, Bolt immediately halted his interview, turned to the U.S. medal ceremony, and showed his respect. He remained silent and still until its conclusion. Meanwhile, Ryan Lochte is somewhere wearing a grill for his medal ceremony.
