Morgan Wallen, a well-known country musician, has been the subject of considerable media attention lately, though not all of it has been positive. In February of 2021, Wallen was captured on video using a racial slur, causing widespread outrage and leading to his suspension from his record label and removal from radio airwaves. In the aftermath of this incident, Wallen withdrew from the public eye for some time, including canceling a joint tour with fellow artist Luke Bryan. However, he did issue a public apology and even donated a portion of his album sales to various Black advocacy groups and musicians.

Several months later, Wallen resumed his career, including a collaboration with Lil Durk, a well-known Chicago rapper, on the song “Broadway Girls.” Durk, for his part, spoke out in defense of Wallen, stating that he did not believe Wallen to be a racist and that the two had a lengthy conversation about the matter. In Durk’s view, Wallen had made a mistake but had taken appropriate steps to address it and move forward.

Durk went on to say this about Wallen and the situation “He ain’t no racist. That’s my boy. We had a long talk. He had his public situation… I vouch for him and he good.”

Morgan Wallen re-emerged into the public eye in 2023 with the release of an impressively lengthy 36-track album on March 3rd, and a sold-out “One Night At A Time” stadium tour. Notably, he recently has garnered tremendous success, having sold a staggering 501,000 units within its brief release period.

Bro, let me tell you about Morgan Wallen – this dude straight up clutched the gulag, crawled out of the pits of media hell, and sold over 500,000 copies of his album in just one week. That’s Taylor Swift and Drake level numbers. No one in the country scene can touch him right now. I got buddies who aren’t even into country music, but they’re still rolling down the windows and bumping his album because his music is just that damn good. And have you checked out Tik Tok lately? Everywhere I turn, there’s a 10-second video of girls lip-syncing his music and getting millions of views. I lucked out and snagged tickets to his San Diego show during the presale, but I’ve seen nosebleed seats going for over 400 bones on resale. That’s how much people wanna see this guy tear it up live. He beat the case and made it big.
