St Paddy’s Day – Drinking Game

If you’re like me, you use the Target dollar section as a calendar. For example, yesterday I went to Target and noticed a sea of green in the bins…now I know it’s almost St. Paddy’s Day. After looking at a real calendar; I noticed the beer indulgent  holiday is right around the corner.

Since they’ll be little to nothing to do on March 17th this year, I would like to introduce you to a very on theme drinking game for the occasion. Some of you of the Irish descent may already know what I’m about to say….

The name of the game is Rattlin’ Bog

Usually, as soon as I say that my friends tell me to sit down and shut up…but like I tell them, just hear me out. This game is a good way to get a buzz going.

All you need is: 3+ friends, several drinks, and a speaker.

The game is played exactly like Thunder/Thunderstruck.

The rules are simple: everyone sits in a circle and takes turns drinking to the chorus in a counterclockwise cycle.

So to start, you’ll need to find the song Rattlin’ Bog. It’s one of those Irish generational jig type song, so there’s really no specific artist that sings it. Some people prefer the The Irish Rovers version, but my go to is this one:

Now that you’ve got your little folk tune ready to play it’s time to begin.

The first person to start it off is usually the luckiest and has to drink less.

The only way I can really explain the game is by highlighting which part each person is supposed to drink at.

For example, at the beginning no one drinks, you just kinda listen and clap:

Now, this next part is when the first person gets ready to drink…but don’t start yet:

As soon as you get to the second hole….(I was going to put a joke here but I decided against it) that’s when the first person starts to drink, and they keep drinking till the end of this line:

That parts cake, it gets progressively worse as it goes on.

The next part is fun just to clap to and get everyone fired up for the next chug:

Now, the second person starts to drink and can’t stop til the end of this part:

It takes up until this point for everyone to kind of get what’s going on. So I’ll just highlight when each person is supposed to start and stop chugging for the rest of the song:
