One last ride. If there was any team that reminds me of the 2008 Giants, it would be this Steelers team. Are they the best team on paper? No. Would they lose this game to the Chiefs nine times out of ten? Yes. Yet, I have an inexplicable feeling that Mike Tomlin runs his team out of the tunnel after delivering one of the best pre-speeches of all time. After being among the league’s worst rush defenses this season, they piece it all together when it matters.
The Chiefs have been red hot since their slow start at the beginning of the year. They’re nine for their last ten, they’ve put up over twenty-eight points in five straight games, and it seems like their secondary has kind of gotten it together. But the Steelers have the intangible that means more than any statistic or trend: underdog mentality. Vegas likes the Chiefs by -12.5; that’s too many points. Even if the Steelers don’t win this game, they aren’t going to roll over. This is going to be a close one that we won’t forget anytime soon.
