This weekend number 15 ranked Michigan State will be hosting Akron. Both teams are currently undefeated at 1-0, but only one of them is walking out batting 1.000. Here’s what you need to know.
Akron comes into this one looking like David did to Goliath. This game will be a tough ask, especially offensively. Unfortunately, two Michigan State defensive starters were just ruled out for the time being, linebacker Darius Snow and safety Xavier Henderson. These holes could be taken advantage of by the Zips, who will still have a hard time moving the chains. Akron will need it’s difference makers on the offense to really step up. Running back Cam Wiley who had 85 yards on the ground last week and receiver Shocky Jacques-Louis who had 102 receiving yards will be looked to to produce the bulk of the offense against a stingy D.
On the other side Michigan State is probably as confident as Hillary going into 2016. They did well in the transfer portal, and even accounting for the recent injuries the defense should continue to look good. Akron is a weaker opponent than Western Michigan, and their QB mostly likely will not have much time to make decisions before that green and white D-Line is on top of him. Their secondary also looks solid so even if Irons is able to get the ball off it might end up in a Spartan’s hand. Their offense is electric and should not have a problem tearing up the Zip’s defense.
