While the Jalon Daniels injury is tragic, Kansas hasn’t gotten to where they are solely from his contributions. Football is a team game, and the Jayhawks have a damn good one. It starts with Daniels’ replacement, veteran Jason Bean, who held his own last week after coming in to replace Daniels. Bean stepped in and gave Kansas a chance to win against TCU, going 16-24 for 262 yards and four touchdowns to just one interception- not bad for a backup quarterback. Devin Neal, currently averaging 6.6 yards per rushing attempt, will be in the backfield to take the pressure off of Bean and keep the Kansas offense humming like a Lamborghini Huracan. With how great Kansas’ offense line has looked, and Oklahoma giving up 214 rushing yards a game, don’t be surprised if Lance Leipold runs over the Sooners like he’s in a Kmart jonesing for the last PS5 on Black Friday.
While Kansas’s defense hasn’t exactly been the ‘85 Bears, Oklahoma’s offense has recently looked worse than my aunt’s divorce. Even with Dillon Gabriel back on the field, OU managed just 88 yards passing in their last six and half quarters. Having their best quarterback back in the pocket will help, but the Sooners’ offensive line is weaker than Biden’s border policy, and Oklahoma didn’t exactly light the world on fire against Kansas State WITH a healthy Gabriel. Oklahoma’s defense is bad, their offense has looked out of sync against competent teams, and Brent Venables might have to start looking for houses on Zillow because I don’t know how much longer he’ll be in Norman. Kansas is 5-0-1 against the spread (ATS) this season, and Oklahoma is 1-3 ATS as a home team this season. Vegas likes Oklahoma -9, but Kansas will win this game straight up.
