Let’s each and every one of us bow our heads in thanks to the basketball gods. Because thanks to them, we get to watch a game in which fifteen and one Kansas plays fifteen and one Kansas State. Plus, both of these teams have the chance of being on ten-game winning streaks going into this matchup of well. Glory to basketball; this has the makings of being my favorite game of the season thus far. Telling you which team will win is as close to impossible as it gets. But if you’re pressing me, I would say that the Jayhawks have the best player, so ride with them.

Kansas State has been having one heck of a season. I mean, they have to be the best eleventh-ranked team in NCAA history, considering they currently have the same record as the second-ranked team. The major reason for this team’s success seems to be the names Keyontae Johnson and Markquis Nowell, who have been absolutely balling this season. Keyontae has been averaging 18.4 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting close to 60% from the field. Kind of insane to think that a team’s top-scoring option is able to shoot close to 60% when he’s most likely getting a lot of the attention on the court from defenses, but sure, why not? And Markquis has been a lights-out guard this season, averaging 17.2 points per game, 8.8 dimes per game, and 2.2 steals per game. I mean, one of the most unstoppable archetypes in the game is a pass-first, scoring, defensive-minded point guard. Just ask Magic Johnson.

But then, on the other side, we can’t pretend that Kansas was just given the second-ranking this season. The Jayhawks have only lost to fifth-ranked Tennessee this entire season, with wins against ranked teams Duke, Missouri, and Wisconsin. The main reason for this year’s great Kansas team is Jalen Wilson. He has been an unstoppable force averaging 20 points and 8.8 rebounds per game leading his team in both categories. His fight against Keyontae is going to be legendary in this game. But this team is not just Jalen; their strength comes in the number of guys who are playing great on different ends of the court. Senior Kevin McCullar Jr is ranked seventh in the country in steals per game with 2.7, while Junior Dejuan Harris Jr is handing out 6.3 assists per game and shooting over 50% from the field.

Now I’m not saying that Kansas is the better team in this matchup. Honestly, either team can win on Tuesday. But since the Jayhawks have the best player, I would say bet on Kansas and get $150 back instantly!
