Alright, let’s be real. Let’s put our emotions aside and come together with logic. The Virginia Cavaliers are a much better basketball team than North Carolina this season. Yes, they just had a tough loss to Boston College, but if I’m North Carolina, that just makes me more nervous. Now, this Virginia team is going to be coming out hot, and the Tar Heels do not have the ability to keep up with them. UVA is winning this game.
Now North Carolina is not a bad team, they do have some solid top-end talent, but they just haven’t been able to put it all together yet this season. They’re currently 17 and 11, and they’re only 7th in the ACC. That’s…not great, I have to say. But as I was saying before, they do have Armando Bacot, who is still just as dominant as he was last season, potentially even more so. He’s been averaging 17.3 points per game, 11.1 rebounds per game, and 1.1 blocks per game. That’s a pretty insane stat line. His rebounding alone has him at 6th in the country. The issue with this team plays into how good Armando is, though. They just don’t share the ball. It’s a whole lot of feeding the beast in the paint and occasionally letting guard Caleb Love cook. And that just doesn’t win you college hoop games.
Now Virginia has some elite-level ball movement, and it shows. They are second in the ACC with a record of 21 and 5. That’s not by accident. This is not a team that tries to beat you with isolation play. This team has two players averaging about five assists per game or more. This team has four guys averaging about ten or more points per game. This is a team that, because of all the open shots they generate for each other, has basically the whole roster shooting better than 40% from the field. I mean, I could go on and on, but there is so much better with this Virginia team than North Carolina.
I don’t really know how much convincing you need from me to see that UVA is just a better team than UNC. Virginia has won more games and played more as a team. Make the smart bet and bet on Virginia’s moneyline and get your extra $200 if the Cavaliers win.
