The Buckeyes are hoping to add yet another title to their crowded trophy case. But it won’t be easy. But that’s nothing new. Just qualifying for the College Football Playoff was a testament to their toughness. Their final six games of the regular season were against FBS opponents and three of those schools are ranked in the top 20. But one could argue that their tough journey to the 12-team playoff has prepared them to be competitive. Of the other teams in the field, Ohio State may have the most impressive resume. They have scored wins over Penn State and Indiana, both of whom are in the College Football Playoffs.
It’s always more difficult for teams to be successful when they play in a conference as loaded as the SEC. But the Tennessee Volunteers have done just that. They placed third in the SEC with a record of 6-2 in conference play and a record of 10-2 overall with an impressive win over the Alabama Crimson Tide. They have also shown that they are one of the more electric offenses in the country, averaging 46 points per game in their last two contests.
The Buckeyes enter this matchup as a 7.5-point favorite over the Volunteers in this highly-anticipated matchup.
