After a lackluster 2023 season, the Los Angeles Chargers returned with a vengeance. Under the leadership of first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers fell short of capturing the AFC West division title but finished with an 11-6 record. In addition, Justin Herbert has looked like a brand-new quarterback under the new Harbaugh regime. He has thrown for 3,870 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions on the season.
The Houston Texans had an incredible playoff run last season and were looking to build upon that momentum in 2024. Unfortunately, that did not come to fruition as a plethora of injuries stopped the Texans from ever establishing any consistency. But still, Houston came out on top as AFC South division champs. And with the playoffs finally here, all the Texans need is an opportunity to make some noise. With C.J. Stroud leading the charge, they’ll always have a chance.
The Chargers come into this Wild Card matchup as slight favorites by a 2.5-point margin over the Texans. The over/under is marked at 42.5 points.
So whether you are rooting for a clear favorite or hoping for a miracle by the underdog, the most important thing to remember is that you must be in it to win it.
