Fyre Fest 2 is Happening: Because the First Time Was So Great

Fyre Fest. Brought to Worldwide attention in a Netflix documentary, Fyre Festival was a flopped island festival scam invented by Billy McFarland. Four years in jail just was not enough of a lesson I guess, as Fyre Festival 2 has been announced for a while, but as the saying goes, if we don’t learn from history we are doomed to repeat it.

Most con artists would not return to the scene of a crime so public it got a Netflix documentary. Billy is obviously not normal.

Now the first Fyre Fest, for those of you who somehow didn’t hear about it, was a genius idea for a luxury music festival, like Coachella, but on an island in the Bahamas. Promoted by huge celebrities like Jenners and Hadids, obviously us normal folk would think, why would these great famous people lie to us, or fail to disclose when they were being paid to promote something?

Expecting a luxury event, which is what the festival was marketed as, attendees were treated to poor conditions, scarce food, and a lack of water provided. After spending hundreds or up to thousands on this experience, Billy failed to deliver BIG TIME.

In 2018, about a year after the “event”, Billy pled guilty to fraud and was sentenced to prison time and forfeiting millions. 26 of them to be exact.

Now the first go around, the attendees had no idea what they were getting into. This time, if it ends up being a scam I would feel much less empathy to the festivalgoers. I will say, tourist officials on the island the festival is supposed to take place at say they have not heard anything about this festival.

Another good saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well fool me you can’t get fooled again.
