Week 2 preview:
Week 2 is in the books, and it did not disappoint. The Cowboys and Giants delivered a classic, as Brandon Aubrey became the first kicker in NFL history to hit a game-tying kick at the end of regulation and a game-winner in overtime. But the excitement came at a cost as several big names went down with injuries, most notably Joe Burrow, who is expected to miss three months with a toe injury. Here are the Week 3 games I’ve got my eyes on:
Rams (+3.5) at Eagles (-185 ML)
Hidden beneath a 2-0 record is an Eagles team that doesn’t look like its Super Bowl–champion self. Yes, they beat Dallas in the opener and pulled out a tight win over the Chiefs, but neither victory was impressive. A few key drops by both opponents are the only things keeping this Philly team from being 0-2. That sets the stage for a divisional round rematch when the Rams come into town. LA has looked sharp this year, and the Eagles face their first true test in Week 3.
Cowboys (-118) at Bears (+1.5)
Dallas enters Soldier Field coming off a 40-37 thriller against the Giants in their home opener. While not contenders, the Cowboys aren’t the pushovers fans expected after trading Micah Parsons earlier this year. That optimism isn’t shared in Chicago, where the Bears have stumbled to 0-2 after two divisional losses. This was supposed to be the year they took a step forward under new head coach Ben Johnson. If they drop to 0-3, fans will have to question whether Caleb Williams is really the QB of the future.
