Scientists Finally Discover Something Cool: A Giant Cloud Of Booze

9 Beer Options for Your Drinking Pleasure

Bill Nye, making ooblek in chemistry class, your lab professor making stuff blow up in front of the class, and this blog. What do all of these things have in common? Sick scientific discoveries.

Now, the title of this blog is a bit misleading there are very cool discoveries and advances made as a result of scientific breakthroughs all the time, but this one especially caught my eye.

10,000 light years away from earth, that’s a lot of Buzz, there is a cloud of alcohol that is 1000 times larger than our own solar system which is an insane thing to think about. Apparently is has enough volume where everyone on earth would have to 300,000 liters a day for a billion years.

Now those numbers are too big for me to really wrap my head around. This cloud is called Sagittarius B2 an the bad news is that while it is alcohol, it’s not the type humans can safely consume as it is mostly composed of methanol.

Crazy stuff both out in space and in our ocean that we have no idea about. Scary stuff in my book.
