Purdue has been really good this season. They’re currently ranked number 5 in the nation boasting 26 wins and only 5 losses, finishing the regular season at number one in the Big 10. While their offense is a little below average, Purdue has been amazing on the glass snagging boards like they’re going out of style. Zach Edey has been an absolute beast with almost a 33% usage rate which is out of this world. He averages 22 points per game and almost 13 rebounds and has carried his team many times when they lag behind. They only have two other players averaging double figures, so if Ohio State can shut down Edey, the Boilermakers will be in trouble.
Now Ohio State is hungry and they’re not going anywhere without a fight. A win of this Big Ten tournament is their only real shot at making the big dance, and that journey continues with a win over Purdue. The Buckeyes offense is very comparable to the Boilermakers, but their defense is definitely worse. The good news is they only really have to worry about three scorers. If they limit Edey there’s only two other players who have proven they can score on any given night. Purdue has been great at home, but these game are on neutral ground, where the Boilermakers have the majority of their losses. I don’t think Purdue is as good as their record makes them out to be, and I don’t think Ohio State is as bad as their record makes them out to be. I see the value on the Buckeyes.
