Well, there are definitely a few things to say about this upcoming Liverpool versus Real Madrid game. The first is that I have no idea what is going on with Liverpool. They beat Manchester United 7-0, but they can’t score a goal against Bournemouth. While Liverpool has been the model for inconsistency, Real Madrid has been the opposite. They are winning most of their games and beat Liverpool in the first leg of this match five to two. But Liverpool has shown that they have a fighting edge.
I’ll start off with the inconsistent mess that is Liverpool right now. We all thought after they beat third in the league at the time Manchester United that they were about to turn their season around. But alas, in the very next match, they forgot how to play soccer and lost to the bottom of the league Bournemouth. They couldn’t score a single goal against a team that has been doing nothing but letting up goals all season. Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo have been largely disappointing signings this season. Again, looking like they had gained their form against Manchester United, only to miss chance after chance against Bournemouth. If the Liverpool that played Bournemouth shows up against Real Madrid this game will be over before it starts. However, if Liverpool played against Manchester United shows up, it’s anyone’s game.
Real Madrid is already up five goals to two. This will absolutely be a game where Real scores a goal and parks the bus. They know how desperately Liverpool needs to score, and that high press that comes from desperation football will leave their aging defense stranded by themselves way too frequently against a Real elite attack. Expect lots of dancing from Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo as they feast for goals. Not to mention current Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema. Everywhere you look, this Real team is loaded with top-end talent. If Real does park the bus, though, and Liverpool comes out swinging, there is the chance that Liverpool gets a few quick goals, and it becomes anyone’s game.
Real Madrid is a better team than Liverpool this season, but Liverpool does have that edge. There is a chance for Liverpool to win, but I’d bet on Real Madrid’s moneyline and get your extra $200 in bet credits.
