In my lifetime, the Mets have made the World Series twice, but this team is unlike any other Mets team I’ve ever seen, and games like last night are a big reason why. For a franchise that’s had their hearts ripped out a million times, losing badly to the Braves two games in a row was a sign for Mets fans that this team was about to implode like Netflix and they would once again watch as a bunch of red-faced Atlantans celebrate their team winning the NL East. Not this team, not this year.

Scherzer pitched a purposeful six and a third innings, but the night’s story was prospect Brett Baty knocking a two-run shot to right field in his first at-bat. Like I’ve said a million times this year, the Mets are built too well not to win the NL East. The veteran presence combined with talent on the roster makes for a group of guys that can handle big moments, even when it seems like they are losing their grip on the division. The Mets have deGrom on the mound tonight. So basically, they need to put up a singular run. Betting on deGrom might be safer than investing in bonds. Take Mets in game four and be sure to take advantage of the closest thing to free money without having to sell your body.
