Oh boy, is this tourney getting spicy. This is where the games will get gritty, and it will almost always come down to a team making the last-second shot to fight their way into the last round. There will be bad calls, techs, celebrations, and heartbreak. Yea, you’re right, there’s no better time of the year. Gonzaga against UConn might be the game I’m most excited for, both teams were stacked going into the tournament and only proved why they were seeded where they were. While this will be one of the best games for this month, only one team can win. With that in mind, I love UConn in this matchup. But let’s discuss.

Gonzaga had a game that some would call exhilarating and I would call bracket-busting, but hey, water under the bridge right? If Julian Strawther takes that shot nine more times I swear he only makes it maybe once more. What a shot and what a way to send a team packing their things and heading home. I would also like to take a moment of your time to talk about the lord and savior of Gonzaga Drew Timme. This man looked like discount Shaq out there against UCLA bringing down 13 rebounds and scoring 36 points. I was told that UCLA had a top defense, but I guess Timme doesn’t care how good your defense is. If only he could make free throws, then he’d be really unstoppable. Besides Timme being the Zaga GOAT, there isn’t much to talk about with Gonzaga. I mean, Julian hit the game-winner but he also went 5 for 15, which isn’t exactly amazing shooting. Makes it even crazier that he pulled up for that shot.

If anyone can keep up with Gonzaga’s scoring and potentially try to stop the freight train that is Drew Timme it’s UConn. The closest final score in a UConn game this tournament so far has been about as close as Batman is to his dead parents. They have been blowing teams out of the water no matter who they play. Iona? 24-point dub. Saint Mary’s? More like Saint buried under a 15-point deficit. And Arkansas making a miracle run after beating the one-seed? How does losing by 23 sound? This UConn team is a steamroller, and Gonzaga is simply the pavement. The most beautiful thing about this UConn team is that there is no Drew Timme that I can single out. Everyone on this team can and absolutely has given UConn big games. In the past three games Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins have each broken the twenty-point barrier with pretty much the rest of the team reaching double-digits in points. If you have a team with top-end chemistry, top-end defenders, and top-end shot creators I don’t really know how you are supposed to stop them. Maybe pray?

Gonzaga is going to need one of the best games in Drew Timme’s career to be able to overcome the might of UConn. Uconn just needs to play their game to beat Gonzaga. Bet on UConn’s moneyline and get your extra $365 in bet credits.
