Tale of the Tape:
The pound for pound best fighter in the world, Kamaru Usman, is back and taking on Leon Edwards to defend his title this weekend. Despite being 2 inches shorter than his opponent, the champion has 2 more inches of reach and opens at a -400 betting favorite. Might be worth throwing in a parlay, but that’s a lot of juice, so here are some better bets. Usman by decision and Usman by KO/TKO/DQ are -120 and +280 respectively which could be worth some attention.
Another matchup on the main card I like is Merab Dvalishvili (-127) against Jose Aldo (+102). I think Dvalishvili straight up moneyline has value. Merab is four years younger, landing over a half more significant strikes a minute, and takes roughly 1.5 less per minute. Those numbers add up, take Dvalishvili.
Lastly, during the prelim matchups you can usually find some nice value. Personally I’m eyeing AJ Fletcher moneyline at -162. His strikes and takedowns are far more effective than his opponent’s, and he’s only lost once. At -162 juice I think that is worth a sprinkle.
