After tough losses for both teams, the Virginia Tech Hokies will be hosting the Boston College Eagles this weekend. This game will be a bounceback opportunity for everyone, so let’s break it down.

BC was in control most of last week, but multiple mistakes and offensive turnovers proved to be too much for them to stay in the lead as they failed to score later in the second half. This weekend the Eagles will be looking to minimize mistakes and costly turnovers, while keeping their offense alive in the later stages of the game. The Hokies also struggled in the fourth quarter, and allowed a late comeback. Their QB, Grant Wells only had one touchdown and four picks, so the Eagles will try to capitalize on poor QB play. The Eagles defense has been fairly solid, so for this game offense will be the question mark and deciding factor.

On the other hand, the Hokies should be in a good position playing at home. Last week the Eagles could only muster 29 rushing yards and couldn’t squeeze in a score in the fourth. Virginia Tech’s defense was pretty solid but too many flags did them in. I expect their defense to remain solid, and if their offense can limit mistakes and turnovers (especially interceptions) they should be able to dispatch a struggling Eagles squad with the support of their home crowd. The spread is only 3, and I think the fans push Virginia Tech over that hump. Take the Hokies to ground the Eagles, and take a chance at getting a free $500 from Sports Illustrated.
