Call me crazy but I am expecting a playoff atmosphere in Colorado for this game. Sure it is only the fourth game of the season for Avs — and just the third for the Jets — but these two teams could be locked in a battle all year. The fans will be amped and it will be palpable.

Head coach Jared Bednar gave some discouraging news as to the health of captain Gabriel Landeskog as well as Darren Helm. Obviously they have missed the start of the season with lingering issues that both played through in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Now there is worry that Landeskog knee is not quite right yet. It was three weeks ago that the news was limiting his return, now it is moving to more concerning. Helm had his timeline moved back to not being able to play for “some time.”

The rest of the roster is still, relatively, healthy. Nathan MacKinnon picked right back up where he left off with points coming in bunches. The same can be said for Mikko Rantanen and Arturri Lehkonen in the early going.

Winnipeg is in the early stages of an interesting season.

Kyle Connor is a legitimate star. Cole Perfetti is right behind him. Connor score 47 goals and tallied 46 assists last season. His continued emergence has some putting darkhorse money on his Hart Trophy winnings. The safer money may be on Perfetti winning the Calder. He didn’t lose his rookie eligibility last year by playing in 18 games. At still only 20, he certainly looks the part. His minor league stats are insane — 185 points in 124 games in the OHL, and with Manitoba he scored 41 points in 49 games. His time is coming.

It would not shock me if Winnipeg made a deep playoff run — much like Colorado obviously will.

The Jets are not ready for prime time just yet and Colorado has home ice and more established talent. You can only pick one, and in this pairing we look for the Avalanche to get right. Bet them to win and get your free $200 from BetMGM when a goal is scored!
